Current Project: PURPOSE
"PURPOSE" is a 2.5 meter figurative sculpture, currently being created by Hamish and Brenda Herd for a private client in Texas. The work explores strength, intention and the quiet resolve that drives human endeavour.
Rooted in old world sculpting traditions, the piece begins with a hand built armature and is modelled in clay using classical figurative techniques, carefully observing balance, anatomy and gesture. These time honoured methods are then blended with contemporary fabrication processes, allowing the sculpture to transition from tactile clay and steel into its final form.
The completed works will be realised in stainless steel, a material chosen for its permanence, resiliance and subtle dialog with light. In Purpose, traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering meet, reflecting a belief that meaning is forged through both discipline and innovation.
This sculpture stands as a testament to process, collaboration and intention. Where every mark, weld and decision serves a clear and deliberate end.

Winged Sovereignty
Winged Sovereignty is a monumental sculptural work exploring strength, freedom, ancestry and our connection to the natural world.
Created as a bespoke commission for a private ranch in the Texas Hill Country, the 3.6-metre-wide piece brings together the powerful presence of the human figure and the eagle - a symbol of vision, protection and sovereignty.
Layered textures and sculptural detail give the work an almost ancient quality, while contemporary materials bring it firmly into the present. Winged Sovereignty is a celebration of resilience, belonging and Freedom
The Lost Feather
Standing as a striking landmark within The Lost Feather experience at Kynren, this monumental sculpture captures beauty, grace and symbolism of a single feather. An enduring reminder of the connection between humanity and the natural world. Flowing lines, rich textures an layered colour evoke movement, freedom and timeless elegance of birds in fight.
